What's included in a Home Services Membership?

With your monthly membership, you get ongoing service from one skilled, dedicated contractor and partnership from a full team behind the scenes to help address day to day home needs. Included is 42 hours of service (an average of 3.5 hrs per month) to use flexibly over the course of 12 months. You can use these upfront or spread out as you like. Your contractor will complete jobs on your to-do list, create a home maintenance plan for your home, and guide you with suggestions to keep your home in great shape. All labor is included and there is no per visit fee for your regular visits. Plus, as a member additional hours can be purchased at a discounted rate.

For complex jobs that require a specialist by law or crop up urgently, Blackwood can help source trusted vendors from our partner network and help coordinate the process for you. Please note that the cost of the specialty vendor will be passed on to you.

You’ll also receive access to the Blackwood team to update and track your to-do list, easily book appointments, message our friendly support team with questions at any time.

Membership depends on your location, and starts at $294 per month, billed annually at $3,528. If you'd like us to purchase parts on your behalf, we are able to do that as well for a nominal shopping fee tied to a visit.

‍Get started with a free evaluation to walk-thru your to-do list in detail with your contractor. He’ll also point out things that you may want to consider for safety or functionality. During the visit, he’ll be clear about what he can and can’t do, to help you get a sense of the value you’ll receive from our service. It’s pressure-free, with no credit card required. If time permits get the intake started to get you going on knocking off items on your honey-do list!

Question 2

What services can Blackwood complete?

Blackwood can complete jobs of many sizes, ranging from changing light fixtures and hanging artwork to replacing a toilet. See a full list of coverage areas here, which includes installation, assembly, carpentry, patch and paint, drywall, and minor electrical and plumbing. If a new water or power source is needed, that’s when we’ll always refer you to a specialist for safety reasons. When a job does require a specialist, we’ll be upfront with you, and can connect you to a trusted vendor in our network. These costs are passed to you.

Blackwood does not handle ongoing pool care, ongoing landscaping or snow removal. Our specialist team can help you source vendors for those as necessary.

Question 3

How often and for how long will I see my contractor?

Accepted Answer

Annual members have 42 hours to use flexibly over the course of one year. You can pre-book visits in advance if you like (e.g. 3rd Friday of the month) or pull time forward and backward as you like. Visits can be booked in two time blocks: a 3.5 hour visit or a 1 hr 45 minute visit. The last 10 minutes of every visit is devoted to clean up and task documentation.

If you need more visits in a given membership month, you can book additional 1 hour and 45 minute visits for $150. If you require 2 servicemen for a particularly complex task, you can do so for an extra fee to cover labor costs.

If you are a Quarterly, Seasonal, Vacation, or Silver plan those visits will vary depending on required tasks.

How do you vet your contractors?

Blackwood contractors are fully employed by Blackwood Home Services and Remodeling, LLC, and are experts in the industry.  Every team member undergoes a thorough vetting process for quality, service and friendliness, including a background check and hands-on assessment. We also provide regular training opportunities. Our contractors have several years of experience in the industry, take pride in their work, and enjoy working with homeowners.

Can I hire you without signing up for a service plan?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! One of the benefits of signing up for a service plan is a discounted hourly rate, but we are happy to offer our hourly services to all.

For non-members, we offer our services at $125/hr with a 4-hr minimum requirement per service call.
